The arrest warrant for former Ansan Greeners FC 온라인카지노(K League 2) president Lee Jong-geol, who is suspected of corruption in professional soccer recruitment, has been dismissed.

On July 7, Deputy Chief Judge Yoon Jae-nam of the Seoul Central District Court dismissed all arrest warrants requested by the prosecution against Lee Jong-geol, the former president of Ansan FC, and Bae Mo, the former head of the strategic reinforcement team.

“Although the suspects are disputing some of the facts of the crime, they have generally admitted and reflected on the basic facts,” Yoon said, explaining the reasons for the dismissal. “Considering the suspects’ age, occupation, and family relationships, and the fact that they are unlikely to flee, there is a lack of necessity and substantiality to detain them at this stage,” he said. “The objective evidence seems to have been substantially secured, so there is also a low risk of further destruction of evidence,” the court added.

Lee is accused of receiving 10 million won in cash and a luxury watch worth 17 million won from agent Choi Mo (Bae Byung) in exchange for the signing of two players between November last year and January this year (bribery). In connection with the signing of the players, Bae, the former team manager, was also investigated for receiving 30 million won in cash from Choi on three occasions between August last year and February this year. At the time, Bae was in charge of Ansan FC’s scouting operations.

Meanwhile, prosecutors plan to continue their investigation against Choi, who was detained on March 26. They are looking into whether there are additional crimes that have not yet been revealed, as Choi has been soliciting a number of club officials.
