Ryu Hyun-jin’s (Toronto Blue Jays) partner Danny Jansen has been sidelined with a fractured finger.
“Wild-card chasing Toronto has lost its starting catcher,”온라인바카라 CBS Sports reported on Wednesday (ET).
“Jansen has been placed on the 10-day disabled list (IL) with a fractured right middle finger,” Toronto said. Jansen suffered the injury on Feb. 2 against the Colorado Rockies when he was hit by a foul-tipped pitch.
Toronto manager John Schneider said, “It was a very strange injury. ”It was a very odd injury,” said Toronto manager John Schneider. Jansen joins Bo Bissett and Matt Chapman on the disabled list. A red flag has been raised on Toronto’s chances of making it to fall ball.

In this game, Jansen was paired with Ryu Hyun-jin. Ryu pitched five innings of two-run (two earned), four-hit ball at Coors Field with two walks and three strikeouts.
Jansen’s injury came after Ryu was removed from the mound. He was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning. Jansen played through the pain to finish the inning, but post-game tests revealed a fracture.
Jansen has played in 86 games this season, hitting .228 with 61 hits, 17 home runs, 53 RBIs, 38 runs scored and a .786 OPS. He also hit a home run in this game, taking a load off Ryu’s shoulders.

Since returning to the lineup this season, Hyun-jin Ryu has been working well with Jansen. In six games with Jansen, he is 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA, 13 runs (eight earned) in 29 innings pitched, and a 1.03 WHIP. In games where Ryu has pitched, Toronto is 5-1.
Toronto is in third place in the American League East with a 74-62 record. They are 10.5 games behind the first-place Baltimore Orioles. They are in the hunt for a wild card spot. They are currently in the fourth wild card spot. The first through third wild cards will play fall ball. They are currently 1.5 games behind the third-place Texas Rangers. It will be interesting to see how the team performs without Bissett, Chapman, and closer Jansen.
