Marouane Fellaini, 35, will leave Shandong Taishan at the end of the season.
On Thursday, Shandong Taishan, led by head coach Choi Kang-hee, officially announced, 스포츠토토“We are grateful to our eternal captain Fellaini,” adding, “Fellaini and our club have mutually decided to part ways at the end of the 2023 season.”
It’s been five years since Fellaini has played in the Chinese Super League (CSL). After leaving Manchester United in the English Premier League (EPL) in early 2019, Fellaini took a “wardrobe malfunction” photo in a Shandong jersey. The move caught everyone by surprise.
“Fellaini has been with Shandong for five seasons, from the 2019 season to the present. He scored 51 goals and provided eight assists in 130 appearances. Fellaini is a 6-foot-2 Belgian midfielder. His “bombshell” hairstyle turned heads early on in his career. He made his professional debut for Stendare Liege in the Belgian Jupiler League before moving to Everton in England in 2008. In 2013, he moved to Manchester United.

He played for Everton and United for 11 years. Fellaini scored 37 goals and provided 25 assists in 260 Premier League appearances. He won the English FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Europa League.
He was also a big hit with the Belgian national team. A member of the “Golden Generation,” Fellaini scored 18 goals and provided four assists in 87 caps for Belgium between 2007 and 2018. He appeared at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he scored the equalizer to tie the game 2-2 against Japan in the Round of 16. Belgium went on to win the match 3-2 in dramatic fashion.
Fellaini has also faced off against K League teams. He played for Shandong in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) against Gyeongnam FC. This season, they will face Incheon United in the group stage of the ACL. It will be Fellaini’s last ACL appearance.
