The Doosan Bears and SSG Landers had to settle for a draw in the first game of a doubleheader.
Doosan battled SSG to a 7-7 draw in the 13th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon at 3 p.m. on April 27.
SSG took the lead after six scoreless innings from starter Kim Kwang-hyun, a sacrifice fly from Kim Kang-min and an RBI single from Ha Jae-hoon, but veteran bullpen Noh Kyung-eun and Ko Hyo-joon collapsed. Yang gave up a grand slam to Suk-hwan Yang. However, Choo Shin-soo’s three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth and Han Yoo-seom’s tying solo shot in the bottom of the ninth proved to be too much.

SSG scored the first run, thanks to an off-balance sacrifice bunt by Kim Kang-min.
The third inning was a tense pitching battle. In the fourth inning, the balance was broken. The first batter, Oh Tae-gon, hit an infield single in front of the second baseman. It was a hit, but it was almost an error by second baseman Park Kye-beom. Choi then drew a walk and Heredia followed with a single.
With the bases loaded, Kim Kang-min flied out to center field. Kim’s sacrifice fly gave SSG a 1-0 lead. Ha Jae-hoon followed with an RBI double to left-center to make it 3-0.
Starter Kim Kwang-hyun worked out of a jam in the first inning and gave up a single to Yang Ji in the second, but he got Yang Seok-hwan to pop out to second and induced Kang Seung-ho to ground into a double play.
After Kim Kwang-hyun’s strong pitching…SSG bullpen collapses
SSG led the game until the sixth inning. However, Doosan turned the game around with a big inning in the seventh.
SSG went to the bullpen in the seventh inning. Doosan didn’t seem to have a chance in the seventh as the first batter, Heo Kyung-min, was retired on a grounder to shortstop and Park Kye-beom’s replacement, Kim In-tae, was hit by a pitch.
However, Cho Su-hyun singled to left field and stole second. He then moved to third on a wild pitch by Noh Kyung-eun. Noh’s pitches started to wobble.
Jung Soo-bin drew a walk. With runners on first and third, SSG brought up Ko Hyo-joon. However, Ko Hyo-joon’s fastball was not caught by catcher Lee Heung-ryun. Third baseman Cho Su-hyun crossed home plate, and first baseman Jung Soo-bin went to second.
Kim Jae-hwan and Rojas drew back-to-back walks to load the bases for Doosan. Yang also drew a walk and was pushed out to score another run. The score was 2-3 with one out. For SSG, Noh Kyung-eun and Ko Hyo-joon gave up four hits and a walk and a wild pitch.
Yang Seok-hwan’s come-from-behind walk-off home run!
With the bases loaded, Yang Seok-hwan took an 8-pitch fastball from Ko Hyo-joon for a grand slam over the left field fence. It was Yang’s 31st home run of the season, 1046th of his career, and fifth of his personal record.
Doosan’s chances were not over. Kang Seung-ho singled to right. SSG made another pitching change, bringing up right-hander Lee Kun-wook. However, Lee gave up a stolen base to Kang Seung-ho and a walk to Heo Kyung-min. He then gave up a walk to Kim In-tae, putting the bases loaded again.
Doosan had a chance to score another run. Cho hit an RBI single to center field against the reliever, Choi Min-jun, to give Doosan a 7-3 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, Doosan brought up Hong Gun-hee, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Hong Gun-hee struck out Han Yoo-seom on a wild pitch to save the day.
