The Premier League has turned its attention to Tottenham Hotspur’s recent defensive collapse to see if they can stop “penalty-box predator” Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton Wanderers).
“Can Tottenham’s stingy defense stop the threat of Hwang Hee-chan?” asked the English Premier League’s official website on Tuesday (June 10).
Tottenham and Wolverhampton are set to face off in the 12th round of the 2023/24 Premier League on Nov. 11 at 9:30 p.m. at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England. The two teams sit in second and 14th place, respectively, and while there is a gap between their early season results, their recent form has been somewhat similar.
Tottenham have been the best of the bunch, winning eight and drawing two of their opening 10 games, but they were outnumbered in the last round, losing 1-4 to Chelsea after having two men sent off. They also lost the league lead to Manchester City, who ended their previous four-game winning streak.
Hwang Hee-chan is also making a surprise run at the top of the scoring charts. With six league goals, Hwang is currently tied for sixth in the league with Alexander Isaac (Newcastle United) and Briand Mbemo (Brentford). If you include his one goal in the League Cup, it was his sixth goal of the season.
Having joined the Premier League in the summer of 2021, Hwang has already booked a career-high season. The third-year Wolverhampton player has already broken his own record for most Premier League goals in a season (five in 2021/22) early in the campaign and is on course to reach double figures in the Premier League for the first time in his career. 무지개토토
He also picked up an assist in his last game at Sheffield Wednesday, giving him an attacking point in his last six games. With his attacking point production at its peak, there was a lot of interest in whether Hwang would find the back of the net against Tottenham.
The Premier League also took to social media to compare the stats of Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan in the first ‘Korean Derby’ of the season, while also keeping an eye on whether Spurs, who have had a number of injuries to their defense recently, would be able to contain the in-form Hwang Hee-chan.
