A Manchester United senior has extended a hand to David de Gea after he left the club.

Spanish outlet Football España reported on Monday (Aug. 19) that De Gea has received an offer from American Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami.

“Miami owner David Beckham wants to bring De Gea to Florida,” the outlet said, adding that Beckham would match his weekly wages at United.

De Gea ended his 12-year association with United this summer. He joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 at the age of 21 and was immediately handed the number one goalkeeping baton by Edwin van der Sar. He was instrumental in United’s last Premier League title in the 2012/13 season, thus sending former manager Alex Ferguson, who had recruited him, packing.

De Gea went on to have a stellar career at United. He has made 545 appearances for United, conceding 590 goals and keeping 190 clean sheets. In the Premier League, he has played 415 games, conceded 446 goals and kept 148 clean sheets.

His trophy collection includes one league title, a UEFA Europa League and League Cup double in 2016/17, the FA Cup in 2015/16, and the League Cup in 2022/23.

His individual honors are equally impressive. In 2018, he was named to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Federation Internationale de Football Professionnel (FIFPro) World Best Eleven, and he won the Golden Glove in 2017/18 and the last time in 2022/23. This is a goalkeeper who has been very consistent in his performances.

De Gea’s contract with United expired at the end of the summer and he was in talks with the club to extend his stay, but the talks were unsuccessful. United offered De Gea a series of salary cuts and failed to reach an agreement. De Gea’s last contract was reportedly worth £50 million ($659.3 million).

The Red Devils have since been linked with several goalkeepers and have signed Andre Onana, who is the kind of foot-steady goalkeeper they need under Louis van Gaal. 토토사이트

De Gea took to social media in July to say goodbye to United fans. “I would like to express my undying gratitude and appreciation for the love you have shown me over the last 12 years, we have had so much success since my dear Sir Ferguson brought me to this club,” he said. “I have taken immense pride in wearing this shirt, leading the team and representing this club,” he added.

“Playing for the biggest club in the world is an honor that very few footballers get. It has been an unforgettable and successful period since I arrived. When I left Madrid as a young boy, I didn’t think we would have this much success together. Now it’s time to push myself in a new environment and take on new challenges. Manchester will always be in my heart, it made me, and it will never leave me.”
