South Korean striker Cho Kyu-sung (Midtjylland) scored his first multi-goal game since joining the Danish league.
The forward scored two goals in the 17th round of the Danish Superliga 2023-24 season against Viborg at home at MCH Arena on Friday (Sept. 5), helping Mittwilan to a 5-1 victory.
The win extended their league winning streak to six games and saw them go into the half-time break at the top of the table. The win gives them a boost as they look to regain the top spot after a four-year absence. Mitwillan hasn’t won a championship since the 2019-20 season. After winning the title for the first time in 2014-15, Meatwillan returned to the top in 2017-18 and 2019-2020 and will be looking to reaffirm their reputation this season with Cho Kyu-sung at the helm. So far, so good in the first half.
Once again, Cho Kyu-seong was at the forefront of Meatwillan’s defense. He was in a two-man frontline alongside Francis Coquelin, with Dario Osorio, Andre Rummer, Christopher Olsson, and Charles in the back, and Paulinho, Mas Bechsørensen, Sverrir Ingi Ingason, and Henrik Dahlsgård in the defense. Jonas Rössl was in goal.
Fellow Korean leaguer Lee Han-Bum was named to the substitutes’ bench but did not play. Lee joined Mittwilan from FC Seoul and has only played one game so far as a substitute.
Mittwilan got off to a bad start, conceding in the 30th minute to Jacob Bonde. This gave them some breathing room to catch up before the end of the first half. A penalty kick was awarded after Cho’s strike partner Franculinho was hit in the face by a punch from the opposing goalkeeper.
Cho Kyu-sung is the designated kicker for Meatwillan. The stage was set for a big win. Cho boldly stepped up and kicked the penalty kick into the center to tie the game. It was his seventh goal of the season and his first in three games since scoring in Round 14 against Hvidovre on June 6.
Mitwillan added a third before the end of stoppage time. Osorio, who plays as a right winger, rattled the net with a long-range shot to make it 2-1. 무지개토토 도메인
With momentum in their favor, Mitwylan scored three more goals in the second half. Nine minutes after the restart, defender Dahlsgård celebrated with a goal of his own, while Cho Kyu-soo joined in with a multi-goal effort. In the 21st minute, he took a pass from Olsen and calmly struck a low right-footed shot that rattled the net.
