The Pohang Steelers of the Korean Football League (K League 1) have extended their unbeaten streak to six matches in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) group stage.

Pohang drew 1-1 away to Wuhan Sanjin (China) on Saturday (June 6) at Wuhan Sports Center Stadium in Wuhan, China, in the sixth match of Group J of the 2023-24 ACL.

Pohang, who clinched first place in the group, improved to 5-1-1 (16 points). Wuhan, who were eliminated in the group stage, finished fourth in the group with one win, two draws and three losses (5 points).

After a 0-0 first half, Pohang went down to an own goal four minutes into the second half.

A cross from the left flank was deflected by Pohang’s Lee Kyu-baek, but the ball hit his body and went into the net.

Pohang fought back and tried to equalize through Lee Ho-jae.

In the 26th minute of the second half, Park Seung-wook’s cross was finished by Lee Ho-jae with a header, but it was ruled offside.

For the 2023-24 season, the ACL will have the top three teams from East and West Asia advance to the Round of 16, with the first-place finisher from each group advancing to the Round of 16, and the second-place finisher from the other group advancing to the Round of 16.
