Is the era of Mike Trout (L.A. Angels) ending like this? He failed to keep even the top three in the top 10 center field rankings of MLB Network, which had not missed the top spot. Aaron Judge, a 201-centimeter-tall giant who is about to transform into center field, took the top spot by beating out prominent players including Trout.

The MLB Network included the top 10 center field players in a special plan to determine the top 10 players for each position on Wednesday (Korea time). The rankings are based on the prediction of “The Shredder,” which is based on the player’s past performance in offense and defense, Sabermetrix figures, and MLB network analysis. Judge ranked first in center field. Yankees will assign Judge to center field this year, and he was immediately named the best player in MLB network rankings.

“Trout’s No. 1 ranking in center field is over in 2024. The Angels superstar fell three notches to No. 4 after suffering from injury in the last two seasons. The new No. 1 ranking is Judge, who was the best right fielder last season. He overtook Seattle Mariners superstar Julio Rodriguez to become No. 1,” MLB.com said.

  4. Mike Trout (L.A. Angels, No. 1 last year)
  5. Michael Harris II (Atlanta Braves, 5th place last year)
  6. James Outman (L.A. Dodgers enters top 10)
  7. Byron Buxton (Minnesota Twins, 2nd place last year)

According to MLB.com Yankees manager Brian Hawke, Yankees manager Aaron Boone plans to use Judge as center fielder for the third batter. He will put Juan Soto, whom he acquired in a trade with the San Diego Padres, as the second batter and put an umbrella over Judge.

“Soto will hit in the second and Judge will hit in the third,” Boone said on the podcast. “I came up with the idea, thinking that Soto and Judge would hit back-to-back home runs about 150 times.” He said he had DJ LeMeghue, Gleyber Torres or Alex Verdugo in mind as the first hitter.

The core of Boone’s plan is to deploy Soto, who can hit 60 home runs, in front of the big guns that can hit a .400,000 on-base percentage. Soto had 132 walks with the San Diego Padres last year. He ranks first among the most in Major League Baseball. He had an on-base percentage of 0.410, third behind Ronald Acuña Jr. (0.416) and Shohei Ohtani (0.412).

Boone also predicted Judge’s appointment as a center fielder. Judge had high expectations since he joined the pro league. After his Major League debut, Judge played in center field in 120 games. He also played in center field in 78 games in 2022, when he was the MVP of the American League. Although Judge displayed less frequent appearances in center field with 18 games in 2023, he will move back to the center line this year. 마카오토토

MLB.com added that the center field positions are full of talented players. Robert Jr., Harris II, Buxton, and Mullins were listed in the top 10 following last year. Although not included in the list, Lee Jung-hoo (San Francisco Giants), who is about to make his Major League debut, will also compete with them as center field players.
