Declan Rice loves Chelsea.

British media “Goal Dotcom” reported on the 9th (Korea time) that Declan Rice reportedly told former Chelsea head coach Jody Morris that he would move from West Ham to Chelsea if he had a chance.

Rice was a youth player who played for Chelsea from 2006 to 2014. He was at Chelsea from the age of 7 until the age of 15, but in 2014 he moved to the West Ham United youth team on a free contract to be guaranteed a chance to play. He then played for the youth team until 2017.

Morris served as head coach during Frank Lampard’s tenure as head coach from 2019 to 2021. It is well known Lampard wanted to sign Rice, but Morris revealed that Rice was also open to returning. Morris revealed the behind-the-scenes story in an interview with William Hill and Football Accumulator’s No Taffy Football.

“I always told coach Frank Lampard how much Rice would help us when N’Golo Kante kept getting injured, I wasn’t sure at first, but a month later Lampard didn’t believe him,” Morris said in an interview.

“So when I asked Rice if she was willing to come back, she said, ‘Of course I should come back because I’m a Chelsea fan!’ And since then Lampard and other members of the club have been talking to his parents. Eventually, they put priority on recruiting other players, so that was put on the back burner,” he added. 토토사이트

“At the end of the day, the deal didn’t go through, but we offered 60 million pounds to 65 million pounds at the time, which would have been a huge sum for a player who could have easily stayed at the club for about 10 years. For me, Rice is a top player and I have high expectations for the English midfielders. She has shown her worth at West Ham and Arsenal in the England jersey, and she has excelled every week for a better team now,” Rice said.

Rice eventually joined Chelsea’s rival Arsenal in the summer of 2023. After moving to Arsenal for a fee of £150 million (about W252.5 billion), they became the key player. Meanwhile, Chelsea filled the defensive midfielder position by acquiring Caicedo, which Arsenal were aiming for.
